First I would like to point out that the “God Particle” also shows that there was once stability in the universe…so therefore the universe is now unstable.
As for the podcast. First, congrats on getting a podcast Scottye. I enjoy it and I have no idea how to get one. However, the method for which you fish for ideas seems to also beg the audience to take over the podcast and thus lose your own ideas and opinions so that the podcast is no longer yours. In other words you lose your sense of self which attracts the audience and thus have ideally lost the podcast in general.
In terms of production editing may I suggest less “dead air” and to use an editing program such as: Cool Edit Pro which I believe is owned by Adobe now. This will allow the collection of thoughts and ramblings to be placed in a coherant format.
As for the Supernatural reference I too got it. I watch Supernatural. However, I’m old and don’t know what the hell swag is.
In terms of Bigfoot. While it would be awesome to walk out on your front porch and see Bigfoot this would confirm the existence, however, it would also take the myth/legend down a peg as I would find myself disappointed that the great Bigfoot has nothing better–or more mysterious–to do than to go to Moon, Kentucky and hang out in your fucking front yard. You’ve instantly took a myth to a peeping tom…or lawn gnome.
I wouldn’t pick up Bigfoot if he were hitchhiking…he would look too much like some of the panhandlers that you see in horror movies.
Have you ever noticed that a lot of famous ghost occurance are in the New England area. Stephen King is from that area…coincidence…I think not.
I see a huge naked man coming out of a tub of water and yelling while some recording of screams and a snicket sound comes from a recorder on the sink. Go Wolverine.
The mating call is Chewbacca…really. Don’t ruin Star Wars.
I love this podcast…it talks about games I can’t play. Next week paintings for the blind. Just kidding. It is a great podcast though. You have a new fan.
Thanks for the feedback Jeremy. We’re cognizant that we might lose ourselves in the topics. That’s why we select them from a pool. It balances out the influence of the fans and us the hosts. Also, we use the first half of the show (which we lovingly call free flow) to further give balance. We want the topics to potentially take us places we aren’t comfortable with. We want to research and discuss things that we may know nothing about it. It’s a way for Greg and I to grow and learn as well as potentially educate and inform others. If we always picked the topic of the show then we would run out of ideas pretty quickly, that’s why we want to engage our fans and ask them to not only help us make the best podcast we can be, but to become more informed and perhaps better people.
As far as the dead air goes, we do edit some of it out. I stumble over words a bit, some of it is nerves and some of it is the way I naturally speak. I don’t want to completely lose that authenticity in the show. I am working on improving it naturally, but I don’t want to come off as something I’m not entirely. So, I leave some of it in the show. I may edit out some more of it for the next one but getting rid of it all just seems to me to be unauthentic. Thanks for the comments.
